1st on Google – Week 23

1st on Google - Alan Reeves - Reputation.comWelcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google. This is the 23rd update for my attempt to rank first for my name, Alan Reeves.  If you missed the any of the posts, you can find the first one here, 22th Week update here (last week), and the ones in between on my Project page. Below are the results as of Sunday, 7-1-12 (click here to do your own search for Alan Reeves on Google):

This week I’m at #4.  The first occurrence of a link that is pointing to one of my sites is #30.  Overall, my top 5 results decreased 16 places with 2 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places, down from last week.  As a whole, I showed up 9 times in the top 100 search results, a drop of 5 places.

1st on Google – Week 20

1st on Google - BrandYourself profile of Alan ReevesWelcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google. This is the 20th update.  If you missed the any of the posts, you can find the first one here, 19th Week update here (last week), and the ones in between on my Project page. Below are the results as of Sunday, 06-10-12 (click here to do your own search):

This week I am up to #4, an improvement from the last several weeks at #5.  The first occurrence of a link that is pointing to one of my sites is #13.  Overall, my top 5 results decreased 13 places with only 2 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places.  The BrandYourself.com profile I just created showed up at #33 which is a surprise as is @bookwormlaser on Twitter.  I was again surprised to see a post I wrote about my wife showing up at #57.  As a whole, I showed up 14 times in the top 100 search results, which is a new record by 2 places.

Welcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google. If you missed the first few posts, you can find the first one here, 8th Week update here, and the ones in between on my Project page. Below are the results as of Sunday, 03-18-12 (click here to do your own search):

  • #4 – My LinkedIn profile (up 12 places from last week at #16)
  • #12 – My profile on Vimeo – check out my video series Can You Etch It (up 5 places from last week at #17)
  • #32 – The About Me page from my personal blog, BlueCapra.com, with picture (no change from last week at #32)
  • #34 – The post, How Would You Use a MeTag™? from CoachRadio.tv about one of my laser engraving products, the MeTag™ (up 6 places from last week at #40)
  • #59 –  BlueCapra.com tag page; posts tagged ‘Alan Reeves’ (up 28 places from last week at #87)

This week showed a nice turnaround from last week.  My first occurrence is at #4 and overall, my top 5 results increased 51 places.  I showed up 6 times in the top 100 search results,  which is not as high as I had hoped, but not as bad as it could be.

  • #72 – Comment I made on AndyTraub.com 2 months ago (down 11 places from last week at #61)
  • #76 –BlueCapra.com tag page; posts tagged ‘Alan Reeves’ (down 3 places from last week at #73)

This week was mixed for my journey to 1st on Google. Within the first five search results where I appear, I jumped up 9 places to #2 and overall, I decreased a total of 17 places. Last week I increased a total of 40 places with the top spot at #10. The closer I get, the harder it will be to get there. Overall, I show up 6 times in the top 100 search results. [Read more…]
