Strategies for 1st
This week I tried to focus on commenting on posts, specifically on podcast posts. My issue until now was that I tend to listen to all my podcasts while driving. That makes it difficult to comment while the information is fresh on my mind.
To help that, I made a point to stop driving when I was finished with the podcast and comment from my phone. Everyone is different but typing on my iPhone is not something I enjoy doing. I can barely tolerate it for anything longer than the short messages I send to my wife. But, I wanted to see how feasible it was. Although it is not a great solution, the concept is good. In the coming weeks, I will try doing voice recording and transcribing the result for the comment.
When choosing posts to comment on, podcasts tend to have fewer comments on many sites. The fewer comments, the more attention they get, especially from the site owner. Be sure to leave a good, thoughtful comment and interact with the author. That’s what most authors want. Ask them a question, tell them how you are going to apply the great information from the podcast, tell them their podcast sucks and why it sucks. Interact with them in a respectful way and not only will you often have great conversations, your influence will grow as a result.
Summary – The search for Alan Reeves
I’ve been able to make good progress since the start, going from #91 on 1-25-12 to #1 on 7-14-13 and to #3 today. I have learned a lot about improving search ranking and I have made a lot of mistakes, but it’s a learning process. Stay tuned to see if I can hold on to the 1st spot on Google and reach 1st on Bing.
