1st on Google – Week 16

1st on Google - 16th Week Update - Alan Reeves - Rich Snippet Tool from GoogleWelcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google. This is the 16th update.  If you missed the any of the posts, you can find the first one here, 15th Week update here (last week), and the ones in between on my Project page. Below are the results as of Sunday, 05-06-12 (click here to do your own search):

  •  #13 – My personal blog, BlueCapra.com, no picture??? (down 8 places from last week at #5)
  • #23 – My Google+ profile with picture (down 14 spot from last week at #9)
  • #25 – @bookwormlaser on Twitter ( down 2 spots from last week at #23)
  • #27 – The About page on BlueCapra.com, no picture  (down 3 spots from last week at #24)
  • #31 – My profile on Vimeo – check out my video series Can You Etch It (down 6 place from last week at #25)
This week I am at #13, a dramatic drop of 8 places from last week.  The top spots #1 – #4 are occupied again by Wikipedia, IMDb, and LinkedIn (all the people named Alan Reeves, there are 25 of us).  Overall, my top 5 results decreased 33 places with only 3 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places.  I showed up 11 times in the top 100 search results which is down from the record of 13 last week.

1st on Google – Week 15

1st on Google - Alan Reeves - Week 15 update - LinkedIn profileWelcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google. This is the 15th update.  If you missed the any of the posts, you can find the first one here, 14th Week update here (last week), and the ones in between on my Project page. Below are the results as of Sunday, 05-06-12 (click here to do your own search):

This week I am at #5, same as last week.  The top spots #1 – #4 are occupied again by Wikipedia, IMDb, and LinkedIn (all the people named Alan Reeves, there are 25 of us).  Overall, my top 5 results increased 2 places with the first 5 results all occurring in the first 25 places, a first for the journey (5 results in the top 25).  I showed up 13 times in the top 100 search results which is a new record.

1st on Google - 14th Week - Alan ReevesWelcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google. This is the 14th update.  If you missed the any of the posts, you can find the first one here, 13th Week update here (last week), and the ones in between on my Project page. Below are the results as of Sunday, 04-29-12 (click here to do your own search):

  • #5 – My LinkedIn profile (no change from last week at #5)
  • #11 – The About Me page from my personal blog, BlueCapra.com, with picture (up 5 places from last week at #12)
  • #21 – My Google+ profile (no change from last week at #21)
  • #23 – My personal blog, BlueCapra.com, with picture (up 26 places from last week at #49)
  • #28 – My profile on Vimeo – check out my video series Can You Etch It (up 25 place from last week at #52)
This week I am at #5, same as last week.  The links occupying the top 4 spots include IMDb, Wikipedia (twice), and a Facebook link for the Immature Entrepreneur, Alan Reeves (not me).  This last one is a bit of a surprise as I have not seen it that high up ever, usually hovering around #8 or lower.  My first occurrence is at #5 and overall, my top 5 results Increased 56 places with the first 5 results all occurring in the first 28 places.  I showed up 12 times in the top 100 search results which is a new record.  It does seem that the results can fluctuate a great deal week to week (sometimes referred to as the Google dance) but the same big sites are showing up time and time again.

Find A Way

“We will either find a way or make one”  – Hannibal

This quote has stuck in my mind for a number of reasons but mostly, it has become the motivation to move forward.  Too many times we give up on projects that are not going well or that we are stuck on.  We wait for inspiration, help, or something else that will give us the boost to get over the next hill.  What happens if the boost never comes?  Will you wait forever?

To be a success, you must make your way through life.  You can’t wait until someone else has cleared the path, sometimes you just have to blaze the trail yourself.  You may have help or you may not, but for you to find success, you must move forward, finding a way or making one yourself.

  • #49 – BlueCapra.com tag page; posts tagged ‘Alan Reeves’ (down 11 places from last week at #38)
  • #52 – The post, How Would You Use a MeTag™? from CoachRadio.tv about one of my laser engraving products, the MeTag™ (down 2 places from last week at #50)
