Where’s Alan Reeves? – Getting To 1st On Google – Week 122

Happy Memorial Day and welcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google.  This is the 122nd update for my attempt to rank first for my name, Alan Reeves.  If you missed any of the posts, you can find the first one here and last week’s here (121).   Below are the results as of Monday, 5-26-14 (click here to do your own search for Alan Reeves on Google):

• #1 – Alan Reeves on Vimeo – laser engraving videos (up 1 spot from last week at #1)
• #2 – Book Worm Laser & Design on Pinterest (no change from last week at #2)
• #3 – Alan Reeves on Dailymotion (up 1 spot from last week at #4)
• #19 – This site, BlueCapra.com (down 5 spots from last week at #14)
• #36 – Meet Alan Reeves on Scan This Guide, my QR code review site (down 18 spots from last week at #18)

This week I’m at #1 on Google.  Overall, my top 5 results decreased 21 spot with 4 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places.  As a whole, I showed up 8 times in the top 100 search results. A check at Google Images showed my picture at #14 and a total of 10 occurrences in the top 100 images.

Cornering the market – from Google to Bing

In addition to searching Google, I have been checking Bing results for my name, Alan Reeves (click here to do your own Bing search for Alan Reeves).  Here are the top 5 Bing results:

• #3 – My LinkedIn page – (no change from last week at #3)
• #9 – My About.Me page (down 1 spot from last week at #8)
• #10 – Alan Reeves on Twitter (no change from last week at #10)
• #11 – My Facebook profile (no change from last week at #11)
• #13 – My BrandYourself page (no change from last week at #13)

This week I’m at #3 on Bing.  Overall, my top 5 results decreased 1 spot with 5 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places.  As a whole, I showed up 15 times in the top 100 search results.

A check at Bing Images showed my picture at #24 and a total of 7 occurrences in the top 100 images.

Summary – The search for Alan Reeves

I’ve been able to make good progress since the start, going from #91 on 1-25-12 to #1 on 7-14-13 and back to #1 today. I have learned a lot about improving search ranking and I have made a lot of mistakes, but it’s a learning process. Stay tuned to see what next week holds for Google and Bing.
