Where’s Alan Reeves? – Getting To 1st On Google – Week 121

Welcome back to my journey to being 1st on Google.  I hope you had the opportunity to tell a mother (your or any other) how much we all appreciate their hard work.  This is the 121st update for my attempt to rank first for my name, Alan Reeves.  If you missed any of the posts, you can find the first one here and last week’s here (120).   Below are the results as of Sunday, 5-18-14 (click here to do your own search for Alan Reeves on Google):

• #1 – Book Worm Laser & Design on Pinterest (no change from last week at #1)
• #2 – Alan Reeves on Vimeo – laser engraving videos (up 1 spot from last week at #3)
• #4 – Alan Reeves on Dailymotion (up 2 spots from last week at #6)
• #14 – Alan Reeves on Twitter (up 7 spots from last week at #21)
• #18 – This site, BlueCapra.com (up 12 spots from last week at #30)

This week I’m at #1 on Google.  Haven’t been at this altitude since way back in September 2013.  Overall, my top 5 results increased 22 spot with 5 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places.  As a whole, I showed up 11 times in the top 100 search results. A check at Google Images showed my picture at #16 and a total of 9 occurrences in the top 100 images.

Cornering the market – from Google to Bing

In addition to searching Google, I have been checking Bing results for my name, Alan Reeves (click here to do your own Bing search for Alan Reeves).  Here are the top 5 Bing results:

• #3 – My LinkedIn page – (up 1 spot from last week at #3)
• #8 – My About.Me page (no change from last week at #6)
• #10 – Alan Reeves on Twitter (down 2 spots from last week at #9)
• #11 – My BrandYourself page (no change from last week at #10)
• #13 – My Facebook profile (down 1 spot from last week at #12)

This week I’m at #3 on Bing.  Overall, my top 5 results decreased 2 spots with 5 of the top 5 results occurring in the first 25 places.  As a whole, I showed up 16 times in the top 100 search results.

A check at Bing Images showed my picture at #24 and a total of 8 occurrences in the top 100 images.

Summary – The search for Alan Reeves

I’ve been able to make good progress since the start, going from #91 on 1-25-12 to #1 on 7-14-13 and back to #1 today. It’s great to have the top 5 results in both Google and Bing in the top 20.  I have learned a lot about improving search ranking and I have made a lot of mistakes, but it’s a learning process. Stay tuned to see what next week holds for Google and Bing.
